Cancun
Brian and I flew down to Cancun two weeks ago to attend Eric and Rebecca's wedding. We had a really great time seeing family and friends. It was also really nice to just veg on a lounging chair, with a book and the ocean in front of you! We stayed at a Dreams hotel in Tulum which was very nice. Our room was nice (we even had our own little gecko that shared the room too) and the food was wonderful...it was all inclusive and I gained like 4 lbs! We visited the local mayan ruins in Tulum with Keith and Nicole which are pictured below. You can see how pregnant I am now too!

The wedding was beautiful too...it was in the evening just as the sun was setting. Congrats to the wonderful couple!! I won't post a picture of them for they didn't want their pictures exposed to the world. But here's a beautiful picture taken by Keith of the scenery there at the hotel and of Brian and I after the ceremony.

Over the weekend...
On Saturday Brian and I finally got away for the day. We went to Ano Nuevo (pronounced Annyyo Nuevo) which is a State Park nearby in Pescadero, Cali. It is a refuge for elephant seals and it is very difficult to get a reservation! We got the reservation in January and they didn't have an opening til March!!! We had a lot of fun...we took an 1 hour and a half walk through the sand dunes and got VERY close the the huge animals. Elephant seals are about 15-18 feet long (males...females are smaller) and about 5,000 lbs. Kinda scary to be watching something this size only 15-20 ft away!! December is really the time to go I have heard because it is mating season and a lot of action is going on! As you can see from my pictures, all they seem to be doing now is laying around and trying to retain energy for leaving the beach. Many of the females had already left...so there were mostly some males and the babies which they call "Weaners." The picture below is a very lazy weaner!

This is why they call them elephant seals. We got lots of neat pictures and learned a lot about these enourmous creatures!

On another note.....Brian took a lathe pen turning class and I am so proud of the work he did! He made 4 pens in TWO nights!!! They are very beautiful and he had a lot of fun doing it. Below is a picture of his pens...aren't they just dandy?! He's so talented!

Stuff
My sister Ali got me thinking that I need to start writing on my blog again. I've been doing a lot of preparation for weaving but alas...no actually weaving has gotten accomplished! I have both looms warped however...I will get to the Schacht when I figure out what I would like to use for a weft....and to the AVL when I can get a computer to run the darn thing!
In other crafty news, I have started knitting a VERY cute cardigan for "mini"...below is a picture of what I hope it will look like.

I'm making it out of a turquoise yarn hoping that this color could be for boy or girl as we don't know "mini's" gender yet. The yarn is a bamboo and wool mixture and is sooooo soft!
I'm also taking a "Tailoring" class at a community college nearby. I'm going to make a tailored jacket out of some beautiful houndstooth wool fabric I found in San Fran. This should be fun as I am trying to learn more on sewing so I can make my own woven garments one day.
I seem to be very good at being busy but not busy at finishing things!!!
